Born 1926

Portrait by Serena Parente Charlebois of Serena’s Studio, 2020.

Born in South Dartmouth, my parents were Theodore and Inez Shaw Wildes. They lived in Padanarum until 1939. My mother, Inez and seven children; Horace, Merrick, Winifred, Mildred, Frances, Glenn, and Richard moved to Little Compton.

I finished school in Little Compton and went to the University of Rhode Island for one year. I then went to the New England Deaconess School of Nursing in Boston. After graduation I was employed in hospitals in and around Boston. My future husband, Paul Wilber was at Boston University and we married in 1948. Paul taught physical ecucation in the Newton, Massachusetts school system.

Over the years we had four daughters; Marjorie, Jennifer, Deborah and Merilyn. We moved around the country and lived in North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Maryland. We returned to Little Compton in 1982.

I enjoy the beach, gardening, and my grandchildren.
