Little Compton Connected: A Transportation Story

Discover Biographies

Learn about some of Little Compton’s most traveled residents. From sailors to soldiers, you will learn about 300 years of travelers.

Sakonnet Travel

Inside the exhibit, you can read about how and where the Sakonnet people traveled. Outside the exhibit building, you can see history in progress as a new mishoon (dug out canoe) is made here at the historical society.

Shipping Everywhere

Little Compton’s farmers shipped their products to local cities as well as to New York and the Caribbean. At local stores residents could purchase goods produced around the country and imported from around the world.

We are open Tuesday – Friday 10 AM – 5 PM

Any time the office is open you are welcome to visit.

We also offer limited weekend hours, so please see our hours of operation for the most updated information.
